Where to start with Cal Teixido. It is a truly magical place. The staff are absolutely wonderful. The room was so comfortable. The dinner we had in the restaurant was one of the best we ate in Spain. The views are spectacular. The village is a delight. We only had 1 night there but would have enjoyed at least 1 or 2 more to really explore the countryside. Hope to one day return.
I would give this hotel 9/10, deducting 0.5 because the room doesn't have a kettle (which I know is usual for Europe, but for us Aussies, a kettle really goes a long way in making us feel comfortable) and 0.5 because we felt the breakfast was a bit poor (yes, even for Europe). Some fruit would have been a nice addition. This is really being picky though - I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat to anyone looking for something unusual, away from the madness of tourists, where they can really relax and feel like they have found a wonderful secret.

It was located in a village that was a bit lost, but very quiet and beautiful. As soon as we arrived, they didn't have our room made and we went for a walk around the village (highly recommended). We returned and everything was ready, they gave us the suite (without any extra cost), instead of the superior room (which was the one we had paid for). This was very big and with a whirlpool bath. The hotel staff attended us, at all times, super well. In the evening, we stayed for dinner at the same hotel. We had a very good dinner (menu 20 ?) and they also attended us very politely at all times. At the end of the dinner and going to the room, in reception we could talk to the boss and he recommended us some things to visit the next morning, in a very kind way. The next morning we had breakfast there (buffet), everything was very good. The truth is that we liked it very much and we recommend it to people who are looking for tranquility and disconnection.
That the bathtub joints were a little dirty from the humidity (I guess) and they could be cleaned.

We had a great time in this charming hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the service was excellent. The hotel facilities were clean and well-maintained. The location was beautiful, with picturesque countryside surrounding the hotel. The breakfast provided was delicious and satisfying. We also appreciated the availability of parking and the convenience of nearby transportation options.
Nothing bad to say.

Amazing restored Spanish hillside rural town with wonderful stone buildings and streets. Peaceful, isolated, yet accessible. Food is excellent, fresh, local, best traditional paella period. Friendly, charming staff.
Little English spoken but that never got in the way

The views were stunning and the surrounding nature was breathtaking. The room was comfortable and the staff was friendly, offering a warm welcome and helpful advice. One positive aspect was the option to take part in guided hikes through the beautiful mountains. Another positive aspect was the on-site restaurant, which offered a range of tasty dishes using locally sourced ingredients.
Our Easter stay was disrupted by a lack of hot water in the shower which made the experience uncomfortable and inconvenient. We also found the WiFi to be unreliable, which was frustrating when we wanted to plan our daily activities.

We reserved a room at the Cal Teixido after reading about it in Karen Brown's travel guide. We stopped here on our roadtrip from Barcelona to southern France. This gem of a hotel is definitely off the beaten path, but the trek up the mountain side to the quaint village of Estamariu is worth the solitude and serenity. There is a bar and a restaurant so once we got to there we didn't need to leave. The hotel is extremely environmentally conscious, which we really appreciated. The owners and staff were very friendly and attentive. The beds were extremely comfortable and the complementary stick of incense enhanced the already peaceful environment of our herb-themed rooms. Tip- Make sure you print off your driving directions.

I recently had a very good stay at a charming hotel tucked away in the mountains of Spain. The location was absolutely picturesque, with breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere. The staff were attentive and friendly, going out of their way to make me feel welcome. The rooms were cozy and comfortable, with all the basic amenities I needed for a relaxing stay. Additionally, the hotel offered a delicious breakfast as part of the package, which was a great way to start the day.
All was excellent and no aspect could be improved.

The delightful village with locals using the Cal Teixido as part of their community. The owner tried very hard to communicate and was very helpfu. She recommended the local area etc.l
The restaurant was expensive which is fine but the food did not reflect the price paid. The owners husband did not have the same enthusiasm that his wife did. He continued on his playstation whilst talking to his guests.

This is a lovely old hotel in a stunning location. The staf were excellent and the food in the restaurant was very good. The hotle is somewhat out of the way and the drive up to it is a bit of a "white knucle ride". But once you get there, it is all worth it.

We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful location surrounded by picturesque views. the rooms were warm and comfortable, with a choice of a large double bed or twins. the staff were friendly and helpful. the hotel's eco-friendly initiatives, such as solar heating and local sourcing of produce, were impressive. the food in the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the pre-dinner drinks in the bar. it was a great value for money experience.
There was some difficulty communicating with the reception staff, as they had limited English proficiency.

Stunning location, good views, friendly staff and a clean comfortable room
One meal (Salmon) during stay was either not cooked properly or had been frozen/thawed incorrectly and therefore was not really edible

The hoel is nice and in a special location. However, the amenities were quite expensive. Breakfast was 10 euros per person and parking was an additional 8.5, if you want to park near the hotel.
